Katy Souder is a native of Huntsville- a graduate of Grissom High School and an alumna of the University of North Alabama and the University of Alabama in Huntsville. A music lover at heart, Mrs. Souder served as librarian for the UNA Bands, and principal French horn in the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Studio Lab Jazz Band, as well as mellophone section leader in the University of North Alabama marching band. She served as President and is a life member of Tau Beta Sigma, National Honorary Sorority. She incorporates music in her classroom as much as she can- she is a firm believer that every child is entitled to as much exposure to the arts as possible. Mrs. Souder is a graduate with honors from the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a degree in education, and a specialization in Linguistics and teaching English as a secondary language. Married to a teacher, she and her husband believe there is not a more valuable investment than time dedicated to enriching the lives of children. The Souders reside in New Market with their son, Jackson, and his furry best friends, Penny the Husky, and Marley the German Shepherd. She is so very grateful to have the opportunity to teach at Riverton- truly an incredible school!
